Plant-r is a smart device for botanists. It features the device, which is planted in the ground to automatically log information and plant data about temperature, humidity, soil, and pH levels. Once the data is collected and when in range with the device, the Plant-r app will sync with the device. The application allows you to view your data as well as add your own notes and photographs.

Specific features of the application are two different options for organization: logging information by date and by site location. It also gives the user the ability to look at trends within each location to see what has changed over time. There is also a gallery to keep logged photos separate from personal photos within your device, as well as a plant ID system that has the ability to identify a plant the user may not recognize. In addition, it keeps track of all of the user's Plant-r devices that are in use, including battery status, the amount of data being stored and where they are located. With this device and application it minimizes the need for botanists working in the field to have to hand write all of their notes and carry more equipment around than necessary.
